  • Launch of E-Waste awareness & collection project on World Earth Day - 21th April, 2017

Launch of E-Waste awareness & collection project on World Earth Day - 21th April, 2017

    Day:       Friday
    Time:     3.30 p.m
Venue:  Babubhai Chinai Committee Room, 3rd floor, IMC Building, Churchgate

World Earth Day is celebrated every year as an annual event by the people all across the world on 22nd of April in order to increase the awareness among people about the environment safety as well as to demonstrate the protection measures.

On commemoration of World Earth Day Ladies’ Wing of the IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry in association with Clean Mumbai Foundation is launching E-Waste awareness & collection Project.

E-WASTE is a waste that is generated by Electronics & Electricals once they have reached the end of their useful life e.g. mobile phones, computers, laptops, printers, DVD and CD players, etc.

As technology advances at such a high rate, many electronic devices become “trash” after a few short years of use. It has, therefore, become extremely necessary to create awareness about proper collection and disposal of E-Waste.

We plan to station E-Waste collection bins at strategic locations across South Mumbai. This year’s campaign is all about protecting the environment. Let’s make every day World Earth Day!

    Day:      Thursday

Venue:  : WalchandHirachand Hall, 4th floor, IMC Building, Churchgate

Since times immemorial people have always looked for happiness – whether it is through prized possessions or emotional attachments

Is this true happiness or is it a transient happiness?

As the body, mind, emotions and soul are interconnected; any disturbance in one level will reflect in all other levels. Practicing meditation helps people to maintain good health. Some experts have compared meditation to a ‘reset button’ for the body.

Meditation is a way to a healthy mind and body. With meditation, we can release burdens of external influences and attachments. The true natures of one’s soul i.e. love and joyousness starts emerging so as to help an individual to make better choices through clear thinking. Meditation is a way to calm the restless mind to a state of tranquillity. This will fulfil our inner desire to be truly happy.

Women held high status and position in Ancient times. In later ages, her status deteriorated. Evidently, a majority of the women still do not enjoy equal status. It appears that Indian woman is still not treated at par with man in social and family life. The educated women even today though earning, are in acquiescence with the doctrine of the male domination. Date:     22nd July, 2016, Friday
    Time:    03:00 pm
Venue:  Walchand Hirachand Hall, 4th floor, IMC Building, Churchgate, Mumbai.

"Trial by Media" is a phrase endemic to our times. It is used to describe the impact of television and newspaper coverage on an individual or organisation's reputation, by creating a widespread perception of guilt or innocence before or after, the verdict in a court of law.

The media is considered an imperative pillar of a functioning democracy. It plays a vital role in moulding public opinion by shifting the perspective through which people understand various events. But trials by media go straight to the issue of protecting the fundamental right to a fair trial.

Join us for an interactive session with Ms. Sonia Singh, Editorial Director of NDTV and President of the NDTV Ethics Committee. Ms. Singh will provide keen analysis and an insider perspective on some of the most controversial and hyped trials India has witnessed in recent times.

    About Ms. Sonia Singh

Ms. Sonia Singh currently hosts the '9 o clock News' and ‘The NDTV Dialogues', a show which is truly a Dialogue of Ideas, focusing on issues that go beyond political trivia. In her television career of over 20 years, Ms. Singh has hosted many award winning shows including India Decides, Your Call and Verdict. As Editorial Director, she has successfully overseen news ranging from the Kandahar hijack, the attack on Parliament, 26/11, the Kargil war, the Jessica Lall case and many other pivotal stories. She believes it is very important to keep a sense of editorial perspective and take the long view of all that’s happening around us in these turbulent times, and looks forward to many more exciting chapters of the India story. Sonia was recently awarded Editor in Chief the Year at the Exchange for Media awards by an eminent jury headed by N Ram.
