Not EQ, Not IQ. What is your PQ?

What happens in the mind affects the body. The mind is not just the brain. Every cell has its own intelligence. This intelligence is the ability to think in a positive manner. Today, besides emotional intelligence, positive intelligence is key. Your mind is your best friend, but it is also your worst enemy.

Your Positive Intelligence Quotient (PQ) is the percentage of time your mind is serving you as opposed to sabotaging you. Your PQ indicates how much mastery you have over your own mind. Research has shown this to be the greatest predictor of how successful you will be, and how happy and fulfilled you will feel along the way.

Join us for a reconstruction session with Ms. Farhana Vohra to shape your life & well-being along the path of fulfillment & happiness. Ms. Vora is a successful, motivated entrepreneur as well as a licensed Business Facilitator, dedicated to empowering people to lead healthier, happier lives.

  • Launch of Sanitation Project on Earth Day - 27th April, 2018

Launch of Sanitation Project on Earth Day - 27th April, 2018

    Day:       Friday
    Time:     11.30 am
Venue:   1st Floor Hall, Colaba Municipal Primary School, N. A. Sawant Marg, Next to Colaba Fire Brigade, Colaba, Mumbai – 400005

The Total sanitation campaign has brought about a welcome change in the improvement of sanitation facilities in institutions like schools, anganwadis, health centres etc.

The disposal of waste is becoming a serious problem, and both biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste can prove hazardous for health, if proper and complete disposal is not done. In schools especially, disposal of sanitary cloth and sanitary napkins in girls’ toilets is a big problem. There is, thus an imminent need to address this important sanitary waste disposal effectively especially in terms of developing cost effective and simple technology for composite waste disposal for schools.

To continue with an endeavour of conserving environment on this Earth Day, IMC Ladies’ Wing is proud to inform you, that in an effort to initiate proper disposal of menstrual waste and promote the Swachh Bharat Mission, Sanitary Pad Vending and Incinerator Machines were installed in BMC School in Colaba, Mumbai.

With great pleasure we would like to invite you for the inauguration of this project on Friday, 27th April 2018, 11.30 am onwards at Colaba Municipal Secondary School, Colaba, Mumbai.

Ms. Raell Padamsee - Indian theatre personality and CEO and Managing Director of ACE Productions will grace the event as the Chief Guest.

It is imperative that we take the initiative to promote menstrual sanitation and proper disposal of menstrual waste forward by creating awareness, encouraging every woman to use eco-friendly incinerators and promoting research to find a biodegradable alternative to plastic sanitary pads. These steps must be taken to solve the problems that improper disposal of sanitary napkins causes to the environment and to public health.

Let’s make every day Earth Day!

  • How do we make Mumbai Safe -24th April, 2018

How do we make Mumbai Safe -24th April, 2018

    Day:       Tuesday
    Time:     3.30 pm
Venue:   Babubhai Chinai Committee Room, 2nd Floor, IMC Building, Churchgate.

‘How do we make Mumbai Safe’ with Mr. K. M. M. Prasanna - Additional Commisioner of Police (Crime Branch) on Tuesday, 24th April, 2018 at 3.30 pm at Babubhai Chinai Committee Room, 2nd Floor, IMC Building, Churchgate.

India has become infamous around the world as a place where women are unsafe, and even if this is not the reality, it has become the perception.

How should we as a society ensure that such episodes which have shocked our conscience do not occur any more. Let us begin with our own city.

Mumbai at one time used to be known for being one of the safest cities in India. Girls would proudly speak of returning home late at night without fear or anxiety. This has changed in the last few years. We may still be safer than in Delhi but crime towards women is increasing here too, all the while.

There is an urgent need to understand and solve this problem and make Mumbai safe again.

Mr. K. M. M. Prasanna - Additional Commisioner of Police (Crime Branch) will address us on the safety of women in Mumbai and on various projects and measures undertaken by the Maharashtra Police to tackle the issue of escalating crime against women in our city.

Our aim through this event is to create awareness and sensitize women about steps to be taken to ensure their safety as well as launch a time bound program together with the police to make our Mumbai safe .

This is a starting point and we need to actively work in creating –

    1. Citizens Groups to be vigilant and support and sensitise girls and boys in each area.
    2. Process to set in motion immediate action in case there is an incident
    3. Methods to ensure justice is done promptly
    4. Awareness through Posters and other media for women to know of the safety measures available.

It is absolutely essential that all members participate in this initiative as it is of vital concern to each one of us.

Members interested in attending the event, kindly register at the IMC Ladies' Wing Office at the earliest.

    Day:       Tuesday
    Time:     3.30 pm
Venue:   Walchand Hirachand Hall, 4th floor, IMC Building, Churchgate, Mumbai

At the core of everything we do is our eternal quest for meaning and happiness. But what does that really mean? Why is it that despite all our progress as a species, for most of us, happiness is still an elusive ideal? The answer lies in our collective relationship to fear.

Everyone experiences emotions like fear, stress or anxiety at some point in their lives, but that is not a bad thing. When harnessed, these seemingly negative forces become our greatest source of strength and joy.

The path to success, bliss and enlightenment is not to escape our fears, but embrace them. Using science, spirituality and real-world examples, this talk will reveal the paradox of true happiness and the vital role that fear plays in our journey to finding it.

Mr. Akshay Nanavati will enlighten us about how to embrace fear to achieve limitless health, wealth and happiness.

After overcoming drug addiction, PTSD from fighting the war in Iraq with the US Marines and alcoholism that pushed him to the brink of suicide, Mr. Akshay Nanavati has since explored the most hostile, and awe-inspiring environments on the planet and built a business helping people live limitless lifestyles.

Goods and Services Tax, a major tax reform with several unique features is now a reality. We too, like other countries, will have one indirect tax in place of many.

A “Good and Simple Tax” as described by Hon’ble Prime Minister at the time of launch of GST on 1 July, 2017, let us understand how it works and why is it considered as a simple tax and a good tax.

How does it work and how does it impact you as business or as a consumer ? Will the prices of goods go up or go down ? When you use services, you would have been told, tax has gone up now that GST has come, is it right ?

Your support staff might tell you that the tuition teacher is now asking for additional fee as there is GST. How much of it is right and how much of it is not?

Let us understand from our own, Past President,Ms. Bhavna Doshi, chartered accountant and a specialist in the field of indirect taxes.

Ms. Bhavna Doshi, as you might know, was the President of the IMC and is a much sought after speaker on thesubject addressing conferences and seminars across India and outside on India.

What change will the WINDS bring in this first programme of the New Year?

Will they change our response to unhappiness, agitation, misery arising out of attachment and aversions and dejection?

We at IMC promise you an afternoon where the senior Masters of the Vipassana Foundation Shri M. M. Khandhar and Shri Ajit Parekh, will address these very issues using the technique of Vipassana.

For those who are unaware, Vipassana is an ancient technique, propagated by Lord Buddha.

When we suffer, we do not keep our misery limited to ourselves; instead, we keep distributing it to others. How, then, can we live peacefully? How can we remain harmonious ourselves, and maintain peace and harmony around us?

The session will include a screening of Guruji S. N. Goenka’s talks and a session on the meditation technique known as Anapaan. So come and experience the fulfilment through this world renowned ancient method of achieving happiness.
